CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE
AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY:
Authorized by and accountable to the Official Board (0B) of Windsor United Church (WUC)
MANDATE:
To reflect the WUC Mission Statement: Blessed by God and Guided by the Spirit ofJesus, Windsor United Church is a centre ofgrowing Christian faith and friendship, where through word and deed, we seek to serve, nurture and support all God's people.
To develop a collaborative framework for Chrisdan educaüon opportunities for WUC , encouraging outreach to the greater community, overseeing and guiding the implementation of programs.
MEMBERSHIP:
Members and adherents ofWUC: The N'linister, Superintendent(s) of Sunday School, representative of Session, as well as at least 4 members at large to represent the vaHous interests (parents, youth, music, drama, camp, etc.). The committee usually has 7 to 12 members including a Chaif and Recording Secretary.
Session selects a member to serve for 1 year (renewable)
Members at large are usually nominated at the Annual Meeting to serve for 1 year (renewable)
As part of their oHentaüon, new members are given a copy of the Terms of Reference for the Christian Educadon Committee.
FUNCTIONS:
To promote and plan Christian education programs for WUC.
0 To encourage connections and outreach to the greater community.
To develop programming that extends beyond WUC.

To assist with recruiting Superintendents and Leaders for the Sunday School. To assist with selection of curriculum, consulting with Sunday School Superintendents and Leaders.

To support youth activities that help to connect and nurture positive relaüonships.
To assist with arranging special events (family camp, skadng, BBQ /picnic, etc.)
To help develop options that assist parents of young children especially during worship (nursery, comfort areas, etc.)
To submit a budget to the Stewafds Finance and Education Committee supporting Christian Education Committee programs and acdvities. To authorize expenditures for as budgeted or to request addidonal funding as appropliate.
To oversee implementadon of Vulnerable Sector Checks for Superintendents and Leaders of Sunday School and Youth Programs.
0 To request signed authorizaüon from parents/guardians of children who may be filmed during service video taping
To attend all 0B meetings (chairperson Of designate).To report on committee activities and receive direction, as well as give input and participate in decisions. To submit a year-end report to be included in the Annual Report for the Annual Congregational Meeting.
OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES:
Chairperson calls 6 to 8 meetings each year. Minutes are recorded and copied to the Administrative Office. The Rule of Order is informal and by consensus. Motions are made for budget plans and exceptional expenses.
