NOMINATING COMMITTEE

AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

Authorized by and accountable to the Official Board (0B) of Windsor United Church (WUC).

MANDATE:

To prepare a nomination report for presentation at the Annual Congregational Meeting and to present nominations to the 0B or the congregation for any vacant positions as they occur on any boards or committees of WUC.

MEMBERSHIP:

The committee usually has 3 to 5 members, nominated and elected at the Annual Congregational Meeting, for a one year ten-n (renewable). The minister is an exofficio member. The committee chairperson is selected by the committee members for a one year tern-I (renewable). Membership is open to members and adherents of WUC.

FUNCTIONS:

• To strive to make our V'LJC Mission Statement live through increased involvement in the life of our church.

• To provide orientation to new members of the Nominating Committee with regard to the duties and responsibilities of the committee.

• To prepare a year end nomination report for inclusion in the Annual Report of WUC and presentation at the Annual Congregational Meeting.

• To attend all 0B Meetings (chairperson Of designate) to report on committee activities, provide input and participate in decisions and to receive direction from the OB.

OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES:

• Meetings are called by the chairperson as required. Rule of Order is generally informal and by consensus.

• The chairperson of all committees is to be contacted near year end to determine members reoffering and to determine vacancies to be filled by the committee.  New Members for the various boards and committees are recruited through suggestions from the committee, the minister and also by direct inquiries to/ by individuals.  Membership on boards and committees is open to anyone in the WUC congregation with the exception of Session, which requires the nominee to be a member of the SVTJC congregation.

 The committee will make the congregation aware of vacancies they are trying to fill so that individuals may come forward as nominees.

• The committee will present the nominees to fill vacancies on boards and committees to the Annual Congregational Meeting.
