                                             MINISTRY & PERSONNEL (M&P) COMMITTEE

AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Authorized by and accountable to the Official Board (0B) of Windsor United Church (WUC).

MANDATE

Be a consulting and supporting resource for church staff, members and adherents of Windsor United Church.

Recruit representatives to serve on a recruitment and search committee to hire non ministerial employees. These representatives would adhere to the Guidelines as outlined in the Resources for Ministry and Personnel Committee.

MEMBERSHIP

  • Approximately six (6) persons.

The Chairperson and members are nominated by the Nominating Committee and elected/appointed by the Annual Meeting of the Congregation.

  • Term of office is a four (4) year term. (renewable)

Membership is open to members and adherents of Windsor United Church; however, neither members of the church staff nor the minister are permitted to be members or ex officio members of the M & P Committee. As well, individuals who hold positions of Chair or Co-Chair of any standing body of the governing body of Windsor United Church are ineligible to serve on ministry and Personnel. They may, however, serve as liaison for any member of staff.

FUNCTIONS

Provide a consultative and supervisory role to support healthy & positive relationships guided by the Mission Statement of Windsor United Church.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To provide orientation to new members of the M&P Committee with regards to the roles and responsibilities of the committee.

To meet (Chairperson) at least monthly and at times, weekly with the minister.

 To meet (members) as required with other church staff.

To review annually, the for all church staff and recommend to the Official Board through the Finance Committee.

  • To consult with church staff about plans for continuing education.

To prepare and update job descriptions for non-ministerial church staff (contract and salaried positions).

The Chairperson or designated, attends all Official Board meetings to report on committee activities, provide input and participates in decisions and to receive direction from the Official Board.

 To prepare a year end report for inclusion in the Annual Report of Windsor United Church and presentation at the Annual Congregational Meeting.

OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES

Meets four to six times per year at the call of the Chair, in consultation with committee members to find most acceptable date.

 Rule of Order is generally informal and by consensus.

  • The nature of committee business requires strict confidentiality.
