MISSION AND OUTREACH COMMITTEE (M&O)

AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Authorized by and Accountable to the Official Board (0B) of Windsor United Church (WUC).

MANDATE

To inform the congregation of the yearly financial objective set by the United Church of Canada for Mission and Service and the porüon that WUC is asked to contdbute. This amount is based on the previous year's contribudon. The M&O committee recommends the goal for the coming year to the Annual Congregational Meeting and a vote is taken to accept or change the amount.

The M&O committee seeks to identify the needs in our communities and to involve the Windsor United Church community in finding ways to respond.

MEMBERSHIP (Open to all)

The committee usually has 8-14 members, serving for a 3 year term with an opüon to renew for another 3 year term. The minister is an ex officio member.

The chairperson, secretary, treasurer and any other officers are selected by the committee members for a 2 or 3 year term with an option to renew.

FUNCTIONS

Committee Responsibilities

To encourage the involvement of the congregation in living out the Mission Statement of WUC.

To welcome new committee members and provide them with inf0fmation about the responsibilities of this committee. Members will be encouraged to take on Of share leadership for fund raising activities.

To have the chairperson or a representaüve attend 0B meetings to report on committee activities, to provide information, participate in decisions and receive direction from the Board.

To prepare the year-end annual report along with the financial report fOf inclusion in the Annual Report of NMJC. This report is presented at the Annual Congfegaüonal Meeting. (Qrepared by the Chairperson and Treasurer of the Committee) To plan the committee's yearly activides by creating a calendar of events and meetings

To plan for and conduct at least one M&O worship service during the year, in consultation with the minister and Session, arranging for a guest speaker if desired.

M&S Responsibiliües

• To make a recommendaüon to the congregaüon at the Annual meeüng on the goal for Windsor United Church for the year's M&S givings

• To prepare a M&O budget for inclusion in the WUC annual budget

• To encourage the congregation in M&S givings using regular Minutes for Mission during Sunday worship services, and regular financial reports on the donations received to date.

Outreach

• To support: Local Food Bank

WUC square Roots

Each year the M&S committee will hold 5 regular meetings, plus additional meetings as needed. Decisions are made by a consensus of the committee and votes are taken on motions. The secretary records the minutes and circulates them to the committee members for the next meeting.
