UNITED CHURCH WOMEN (UCW)

AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

Authorized by and Accountable to the Official Board (0B) of Windsor United Church (WUC).

MANDATE:

To unite women of the congregation for the total mission of the church and to provide a medium through which they may express their loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ in Christian witness, study, fellowship and service.

Membership open to all.

Membership is open to all women of the congregation, both members and adherents. Presently, one senior unit operates with an average attendance of eighteen (18). The executive, consisting of a president, secretary and treasurer, is elected annually. The unit operates in accordance with the Constitution of the United Church Women (UCW). Meetings are held in various homes of the members on the third Wednesday of each month beginning at 2:00. Meetings are not held in July or August. Each meeting begins with a worship service, a business meeting followed by a program such as a skit, guest speaker, study, etc. The afternoon winds down with a d-me for fellowship with a simple lunch.

FUNCTIONS:

To strive to make our Windsor United Church Mission Statement live through increased involvement in the life of our church.

To provide orientation to those wishing to form additional units.

• To provide opportunities for fellowship and mutual support for women of the church.

To provide financial support to the Mission and Service Fund and the General Fund of WUC.

To contribute to the overall operation of the church.

• To promote creativity and an opportunity for fun and fellowship.

To stay in touch with women who are not able to attend church worship, UCW meetings or otherwise are unable to participate in the life of the church.

To attend 0B meetings (President Of designate) to report on the unit's activities, provide input and participate in decisions of the church and to respond to requests from the OB.

To prepare a year-end report for inclusion in the Annual Report of WUC and presentation at the Annual Congregational Meeting. This will include a general information, a budget and financial report.

OUTREACH:

To provide a Card Ministry, funded by the UCW, sending prayerful thoughts to our church family.

To provide a Prayer Shawl Ministry with the assistance of knitters within the unit as well as from the congregation. These shawls are blessed and personally delivered to those members of the congregation requinng a caring thought Of support.

FUND RAISING:

To organize and host funeral receptions held within our church.

To collect additional funds within our unit to be used for community and congregational outreach projects. These projects change from year to year.
